In Year 2003 September there were gruesome incidents in Maafushi Jail. Evan Naseem, 19 years old was murdered in Maafushi Prison, the victim of torture and murder by Prison Guards. Riots in Prison followed, and Gayoom using firearms killing more.. People of Maldives rose against Gayoom’s Brutality, calling for Justice.

With the September 2003 incidents and Public Outrage began the Democratization of Maldives – “Bringing Democracy to the Maldives” as the local story went.

Maumoon Abdul Gayoom still got re-elected; taking up his sixth Five Year Term in Office on 11.11.1978. Re-elected by Parliament and legitimized by A Public Referendum as the System at time was.

After the September 2003/2004 events, Mohamed Nasheed who was at home under arrest, transferred from Maafushi Prison to House at time serving time Convicted of Theft was released in events that followed and shifted out of Maldives to Colombo, Sri Lanka; and on to Salisbury, UK with Nasheed’s Team. In the United Kingdom, Nasheed set up base in the Garage of his school friend from British Public School days, David Hardingham, a South African born British Small Businessman who owns the Salisbury Church, Friar House. Nasheed began setting himself and his Maldivian Democratic Party in Salisbury and began Minivan Radio and Dhivehi Observer all aimed at Bringing Down the Dictator, Gayoom. That is Nasheed’s Theme and Rally Call – Bringing Down the Dictator Gayoom.

Aishath Velezinee worked at the Ministry of Women’s Affairs, and that year had received a UNFPA Scholarship awarded to do an MA in Women, Gender and Development at the Institute of Social Studies in The Hague, The Netherlands. Velezinee was in Male’ on 19, 20.09.2003 a late application waiting MVV, and left Male’ as scheduled, on the morning of 21.09.2003 flying for studies in The Netherlands.  It was the day Emergency was declared. Velezinee came to ISS, The Hague and was in no way involved with Politics of Power or any Partisan Faction in time. While doing MA, Velezinee wrote A Class Assignment on Constitution and Fundamental Human Rights; International Law and Islam, and sent in to Dr. Ahmed Shaheed at the newly set up Strategic Communications Unit at the President’s Office; a contribution to the Democratic Reform happening back home in The Maldives. Male’ was in action, People excited by the Promise of Freedom and Justice promised by Democracy – for the first time Gayoom’s atrocities were public talk.

January 2005 Velezinee married a Dutch National Istvan Zoltan Mohacsi and returned home with him, both signing out of The Netherlands, to begin Life together back home in Male’, Maldives. Velezinee, had done the MA Thesis on Family Law; Equality in International Law and Islam, Shariah.

Back home in Male’, Velezinee and Stephan were mugged the first evening back home; out for a walk; outside the main gate of the Parliament Building. A Shock. Male’ was destroyed in 15 months; violent street crimes common; no Law and Order, A Gangsters’ Paradise – Hell for the Local People.

The first week, Dr. Ahmed Shaheed invited Velezinee to join the Strategic Communication Unit at the President Office, join Democratization Work. Velezinee declined, expressing interest to continue at Gender Ministry, MA Studies in Family Law. Velezinee was refused request to continue in Gender Ministry, and appointed to Ministry of Planning and National Development, Population and Development section – A Job Title, Basic Wage and A Desk and Computer. 6 months of Punishment and Velezinee Walked Out writing A Letter to President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom direct and delivering it personally to President Office.

Gayoom refused to acknowledge the Resignation; and “Arrogant, Stubborn Velezinee” was kindly given 1 Year No-Pay Leave to Work in Media and contribute to Nation Building, Democratization by Gayoom; phone call of The Minister. Velezinee reminded the request for No Pay Leave was in April 2005 and Resignation in July 2005 after 3 months continuation, Request for Leave denied, no Work assigned. Velezinee took up opportunity to “show real Free Media” reforming Adduvas Weekly to the most popular current affairs and politics, democracy education magazine.

Nasheed countered Adduvas with Minivan Noos; a political news sheet all focus on Politics; Bringing Down Gayoom.

Consecutively, in the opening for Registration of Political Parties under the Club and Societies Act Velezinee co-founded Hama Jamiyya, the first Human Rights based and focused NGO.

After the elections, Velezinee was not appointed to any Duty by President Nasheed in the Making of The First Democratic Government joined UNFPA in December 2008; negotiating to join on Temporary Assignment as A Consultant, Gender and Human Rights doing work of Assistant Director as appointed but with freedom to do other work and earn; and to participate in democratic reform in Maldives independently in the time. UNFPA salary for top national job covered my rent alone; with Gayoom’s raising of Salaries plus plus 2005 to 2008 for Civil Servants and extremely high inflation and living costs. UN had not adjusted to local situation and in 2008 UNFPA did not offer a Living Wage!  

Velezinee began working in UNFPA and pushing Government of Nasheed on Gender Equality; Gender Policy and Main Streaming. Nasheed had abolished the Gender Ministry and set up an Islamic Ministry as part of his political deals with the coalition it was said.

In March there was a surprise opening for the Maldives Judicial Service Commission, the Commissioner appointed as Member of the Public, Sheikh Ibrahim Ahmed, had resigned to run for a Parliament Seat, a Party Ticket of Yameen Abdul Gayoom’s People’s Alliance -  not many people in the Party!

Velezinee ran for seat; yet again, and this time got appointed.  On 23.04.2009 Velezinee took Oath of Office with Mohamed Shihab, then Speaker of the Parliament who had got himself appointed as Member of JSC by appointment from amongst the Parliament Members.

Previous to that, in September 2008, The Parliament had [Character] Assassinated Velezinee in A Special Session held to vote Sheikh Ibrahim Ahmed to JSC. Velezinee had run for JSC Seat and Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom leading the Committee to appoint a JSC Member had decided although Velezinee had the Highest Ponts in Interview and by Work Experience, and a considerable difference between Velezinee and Sheikh Ibrahim Ahmed, TO BE FAIR the Two must Go for Vote on Parliament Floor; and the order decided by A Toss! Sheikh won the Toss. Parliament Session was for Character Assassination; and one by one MPs stood up and assassinated Velezinee labelling Kaffir and talking everything BUT the matter before them – Velezinee was the Most Qualified; the Queen of Principles and Justice; none could deny. Day 1 of JSC was a set-up – FIXED TO PLAY VELEZINEE. On Agenda was appointment of Women Judges; the Attorney General Dhiyana Saeed who had served on the JSC having had the Commission seek Advice of the Ministry of Islamic Affairs on matter. Commission had received Response and Letter was on Agenda. It was a Joke, Unreasoned and Fear-Mongering, warning of Hell. Velezinee argued, offered to take up responsibility and Go To Hell IF that were True, and got the Commission to unanimously agree on appointing Women Judges. Velezinee wins all Arguments where heard, and there began Time in the Maldives Judicial Service Commission –

Between 23.04.2009 and 26.07.2009 Velezinee identified THREAT in JSC and RISK to Article 285; set up for A Silent Coup.

On 26.07.2009 Velezinee took Oath to Save The Courts; Constitution Article 285.  The State was The Opponent; Mohamed Nasheed DISAPPEARING AFTER APPOINTMENT, Velezinee thrown to The Dogs, in A Secure Torture Chamber called The Maldives Judicial Service Commission.

CRISIS WAS VELEZINEE WON AGAINST ALL ODDS, the State COULD NOT KILL Velezinee and Article 285 together, HIDE THE CRIMES as attempted.
